Brett Favre will start Sunday when the Vikings travel to San Francisco.
The Minnesota Vikings aren’t wasting any time in getting Brett Favre back into the fold.
Vikings head coach Brad Childress announced that the 40-year-old will start Sunday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Fittingly, Favre’s return will be broadcast nationally on NBC with kickoff set for 8 p.m. eastern.
The start comes just five days removed from the future Hall of Famer joining his teammates at training camp.
The current plan is for him to play about 10 snaps or a series or two according to an NFL.com report.
“That’s about all he needs right now and all he’s ready for right now,” Childress said.
As for his surgically repaired ankle, it doesn’t appear to be an issue.
Still, Childress cautioned, “we haven’t chased him around yet. We’re saving that for later.”
