Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey cut seven players on Monday as he began restructuring the team roster.
According to a team statement the Bills parted ways with TE Derek Fine, DE Jermaine McGhee, LB Ashlee Palmer, DT Marcus Smith, S John Wendling, WR Justin Jenkins and C Marvin Philip.
The biggest surprise on the list was Fine, who started six games for the team last season. His career in Buffalo will finish with 19 receptions for 158 yards and a touchdown.
McGhee tore his ACL in pre-season and spent 2009 on injured reserve.
Meanwhile, new Bills defensive coordinator George Edwards is working on transitioning to a 3-4 defense.
Edwards also reportedly has interest in acquiring Vince Wilfork of the New England Patriots or Casey Hampton of the Pittsburgh Steelers if neither have the franchise tag placed on them.
