Jim Bates
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Jim Bates is a candidate for the same position with the Buffalo Bills.
Newly hired Bills coach Chan Gailey could be interested in speaking with Bates according to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
The two worked together with the Miami Dolphins for two seasons in 2000 and 2001. Gailey was the offensive coordinator while Bates was defensive coordinator at the time.
Prior to Miami, the pair also worked together while Gailey was the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in 1998 and 1999. Bates was the team’s assistant head coach/defensive line coach at the time.
The Buccaneers dismissed Bates 10 games into last season.
