Bengals want Mike Zimmer to Stay, Open Contract Talks

The Cincinnati Bengals will open contract talks with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer next week.

Zimmer is already being sought after by the Washington Redskins to take over their defense, but the Bengals are going to try to dissuade him from leaving town according to Steve Wyche of the NFL Network.

The problem for the Bengals could be the deep pockets of Redskins owner Daniel Snyder who has proven time and again that he is willing to back up the truck to get what he wants. Historically, the Bengals are not ones to cut the big checks.

Still, if there was ever a case for Mike Brown to “pay the man,” this could be it. Zimmer has turned the Bengals defense into one of the best in the NFL since taking over in 2008.
