The Cincinnati Bengals and safety Roy Williams agreed to a one-year contract on Saturday that will keep him in orange stripes for another season.

Last season Williams suffered a recurring forearm injury in Week 3 and missed a good chunk of time. He was still effective when he was on the field, however.

The nine year NFL veteran started four games for the Bengals in 2009 and had 30 tackles.

The team’s defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer was a big advocate of bringing him back according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Roy Williams wants to come back,” Zimmer told reporters at the Scouting Combine. “He’s a good player and played very well. I’m not biased; he’s good. He was good until he got hurt. If he does play 17-18 games he’ll be a factor. Whether or not he can do, it I don’t know.”
