Bengals Cut O’Sullivan, Claim LeFevour From Bears

Dan LeFevour

Dan LeFevour will be backing up Carson Palmer for the Bengals this season

J.T. O’Sullivan is having a bad day. Just 24 hours after being told he made the Cincinnati Bengals 53-man roster, the team decided to release him in favor of Dan LeFevour.

The Bengals claimed the rookie quarterback off waivers from the Chicago Bears. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound LeFevour was the Bears’ sixth-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Central Michigan product was 19-for-41 passing for 204 yards with one touchdown and one interception this preseason.

O’Sullivan, meanwhile, had his contract terminated and is immediately eligble for free agency. He was the Bengals No. 2 quarterback last season behind Carson Palmer.

In addition to the quarterback switch, Cincinnati signed the following seven players to their practice squad: tight end Chase Coffman, guard Otis Hudson, defensive tackle Clinton McDonald, safeties Jeromy Miles and Rico Murray, linebacker Vincent Rey and fullback Joe Tronzo.

The Bengals have one remaining spot available on the practice squad.
