Will Vernon Davis be the next tight end to cash in?
There is speculation that Vernon Davis could be the next tight end in line for a big pay day.
The San Francisco 49ers star is no doubt aware of the five-year, $20.4 million guaranteed contract extension the San Diego Chargers gave Antonio Gates on Wednesday.
Even still, he’s not worried about money heading into training camp.
“I’m sure it’ll get done, but I can’t go into camp worrying about it,” Davis said recently on Chronicle Live (via PFT). “I have to move on and try to get better.”
Many thought Davis and the 49ers were the best team not to make the playoffs last season in the NFC. If he does improve there’s a strong chance they’ll be playing past the first week of January.
