Steelers QB Dennis Dixon Comes Up Just Short In First Start

Dennis Dixon

Steelers QB Dennis Dixon gave a valiant performance Sunday night, but came up just short, losing to the Baltimore Ravens 20-17 in overtime.

The first time starter threw his only interception of the game with 10 minutes remaining when Ravens DE Paul Kruger picked off a pass intended for Santonio Holmes and returned it to the Pittsburgh 28 yard line.

Six plays later Billy Cundiff booted a 29 yard field goal to capture the win for the Ravens.

Ben Roethlisberger, who was Pittsburgh’s emergency quarterback on Sunday, consoled Dixon as the kick went through the uprights.

Dixon was 12 of 26 passing tonight—good for 145 yards and one touchdown. But, it was the lone interception that proved to be oh so costly.

After catching some heat from WR Hines Ward in a pre-game interview, Big Ben could be back under center next week when the Steelers face the Oakland Raiders at Heinz Field.
