All signs continue to point to Mike Shanahan taking over as the next head coach of the Washington Redskins.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Shanahan officially told the Buffalo Bills that he would not take that job next season.
Also scratched off the list are the Chicago Bears, who Shanahan was described as being “extremely interested” in according to a report on ESPNChicago.com. Evidently, that was not the case.
Gone too are a pair of Texas teams in the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.
PFT reports that Shanahan “basically has his contract done” with the Washington Redskins and has been actively assembling his staff already.
The only job that could potentially throw a wrinkle into Shanahan’s arrival in the nation’s capital is at the University of Florida now that Urban Meyer is stepping down due to health concerns.
However, Shanahan is thought to be an outside candidate for that job.
