The New Orleans Saints are standing behind kicker Garrett Hartley after he missed a game winning 37-yard field goal against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
His miss sent the game into overtime where the Bucs went on to hand New Orleans their second loss in as many weeks.
Nonetheless, Hartley is their man.
“(Hartley) has played well for us. He’s been battle tested,” Saints Coach Sean Payton said per the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Hartley, himself, took the blame for this miss after the game.
“It was all me. The snap and hold were great,” Hartley said. “I felt good coming into it. I just kind of rushed myself, and I didn’t get the follow-through I needed.”
Drew Brees to G.M. Mickey Loomis also gave Hartley their support according to the Times-Picayune article.
