Urban Meyer may not step down as Florida’s head football coach after all.
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Meyer has changed his mind and will instead take a leave of absence from the Gators.
Assistant coach Steve Adazzio will take over as the the interim head coach in his absence.
Meyer was admitted to a hospital after the SEC championship game citing chest pains.
Rumors then surfaced that he suffered a heart attack.
A news conference is scheduled for Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Mike Shanahan was rumored to be a candidate to replace Meyer, but should Meyer decide to stay, it is now almost a certainty that he will take the head coaching job with the Washington Redskins.
