Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman’s season is likely over after he apparently fractured his ribs in Monday night’s thrilling win over the Minnesota Vikings.
His status will be officially updated during coach Lovie Smith’s press conference Tuesday afternoon.
Tillman was taken to the hospital after he was taken off the field on a stretcher while writhing in pain.
He took a direct shot to the unprotected portion of the rib cage from his teammate Craig Steltz’s helmet. Unfortunately for Tillman, Steltz’s helmet appeared to hit him in most exposed portion of his chest, along the side of the rib cage.
Both men were attempting to tackle Vikings receiver Visanthe Shiancoe at the time of the collision.
The training staff gave him oxygen as he was taken off the field causing many in the stands at Soldier Field to worry.
