Brandon Chillar
The Green Bay Packers signed LB Brandon Chillar to a four-year, $21 million contract extension with $7 million guaranteed.
Chillar has been a key factor on the team’s special teams unit this year. In addition, he started four games and is involved in the Packers nickle defense.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter speculates that Chillar’s deal could be construed as unusual given the unknown status of the league’s finances next season.
Just yesterday it was revealed that the Vikings moved up the timetable on Jarred Allen’s bonus, giving him $4 million of the $8 million owed to him next spring.
Maybe the owners know more than they are letting on as far as talks with the union.
