Osi Umenyiora believes that his time with the New York Giants may be drawing to a close.

Following the team’s devastating 41-9 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers, Umenyiora vented his frustrations about playing time and more to the media.

“What did I play, five snaps today?” Umenyiora questioned per Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger. “I don’t know, I don’t know what happened. I thought I was the problem.

“It’s an unbelievable situation, man. Last game at Giants Stadium, probably as a Giant, just the way everything has unfolded has been unbelievable.”

He was demoted from the starting squad to just a pass-rush specialist in November.

With three years remaining on his six-year contract, releasing Umenyiora could be a costly proposition for the Giants. He is scheduled to earn $3.1 million in 2010, $3.125 million in 2011 and $3.975 million in 2012.

“I couldn’t really explain what I’m feeling right now. Disappointment is an understatement, in everything,” Umenyiora added. “The way everything has played out this year has been absolute nonsense; very disappointed, disheartened, discouraged, whatever you want to call it. I feel all those emotions.”
