Nick Folk, who missed six of his last nine field goals, will remain as the kicker for Dallas Cowboys.

Folk beat out David Buehler to retain his job in a kicking competition during Tuesday’s practice in Dallas.

But it’s not as if he blew the competition away.

Folk was 2-of-4 while Buehler was just 1-of-4 while kicking from 30 to 35 yards into the wind according to a report by David Moore of The Dallas Morning News.

Coach Wade Phillips said that Buehler is “a ways away” and is now sticking by Folk.

“The guy has been a good one and is young,” Phillips said of his current kicker. “That makes me think he can come back if he’s mentally strong enough. I’ve talked to him, and he seems to be that way.

“He’s obviously been a good kicker, who, for whatever reason, has been in a slump lately. Can he come out of it? I think he can. We’ll just have to see.”
