Trent Cole
The NFL fined Trent Cole of the Philadelphia Eagles and Shaun O’Hara of the New York Giants $15,000 apiece for their roles in a fight during Sunday’s game between the NFC East rivals.
At the end of the second half O’Hara got in the face of Cole and pushed at his face mask.
In retaliation, Cole threw two punches at the big Giants’ center who then responded by ripping Cole’s helmet off.
Cole was ejected from the game for throwing the punches and spoke about the incident Wednesday night.
“I embarrassed myself and my team,” he told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “It was just a situation I didn’t want to be in … but it happened and you have to deal with it, take the consequences and move forward to the next week. I’m always there to help and protect any of my teammates,” he added. “It was a situation that got ugly and it got out of hand.”
