The Detroit Lions signed QB Patrick Ramsey Saturday to fill the vacant roster spot left when the team place Matthew Stafford on injured reserve.
Ramsey was a starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins earlier in his career, before moving on to the New York Jets and Denver Broncos. He has not seen action this season, although he was with the Tennessee Titans during training camp.
He is expected to be the team’s third string quarterback behind Daunte Culpepper and now starter Drew Stanton.
There is speculation that with Culpepper being on the outs in Detroit, Ramsey could make a name for himself and contend for a roster spot next season.
