Giants Sign TE Chandler from Cowboys Practice Squad

Scott Chandler

Scott Chandler

The New York Giants signed Scott Chandler, a tight end, off of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad Tuesday.

Chandler becomes the team’s fifth tight end on the active roster behind Kevin Boss, Darcy Johnson, Travis Beckum and Bear Pascoe.

Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger, who broke the story, wonders why the move was made. Indeed it is rare for a team to carry so many tight ends, even if they run a heavy dose of the two tight end formation.

Chandler becomes the fourth player signed off of Dallas’ practice squad this season.

There is no word yet as to whether the Giants are planning on dropping one of the other tight ends on their roster prior to the post-season.
