Eagles Drop Broncos 30-27, Keep No. 2 Playoff Seed Hopes Alive

The Philadelphia Eagles hung on to defeat the Denver Broncos 30-27 thanks to a 28-yard David Akers field goal in the closing seconds of the game.

The win also keeps the Eagles hopes of being the second seed in the NFC playoffs alive.

Donovan McNabb gave a strong effort, completing 20 of 35 passing attempts for 322 yards and three touchdowns along with one interception.

The Eagles ground game was evenly divided, but lead by the returning Brian Westbrook who carried the ball nine times for 32 yards.

Brent Celek continued his remarkable season with another four grabs for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Jeremy Maclin added six catches for 92 yards, while DeSean Jackson caught four passes of his own for 33 yards and a score.

For the Broncos, Kyle Orton was 27 of 41 throwing the ball for 189 yards, three touchdowns and one pick.

Jabar Gaffney was Orton’s favorite target, catching seven passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns.

Brandon Marshall caught eight passes for 39 yards.

The ground game for the Broncos was held in check, as Correll Buckhalter lead the team in rushing with just 42 yards.

The loss puts the Broncos playoff hopes on life support, needing a lot of help in the final week of the season to play on.
