Drew Stanton will start at quarterback Sunday for the Detroit Lions when they take on the San Francisco 49ers.

Jim Schwartz confirmed to reporters Wednesday that Stanton will get the nod over veteran Daunte Culpepper, who was just 6 of 12 passing before being benched last Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

Stanton’s numbers were slightly better, completing 10 of 19 passing attempts for 72 yards. He also threw one interception.

Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford continues to be sidelined with a shoulder injury and will likely be inactive against the 49ers according to PFT.
