The Carolina Panthers believe that Randy Moss quit on the New England Patriots during Sunday’s game.

“We knew he was going to shut it down,” Panthers corner Chris Gamble told Albert Breer of The Boston Globe. “That’s what we wanted to do him. That’s what we did. … He’d just give up a lot. Slow down, he’s not going deep, not trying to run a route. You can tell, his body language.”

Perhaps Moss was frustrated by the the tight Carolina defense. He often found himself in man coverage with a safety lying in wait.

“You get physical with him, and… he kind of doesn’t run the routes the way they’re supposed to be run,” safety Chris Harris echoed. “If you get a jam on him, he’ll just ease up.”

Moss was one of four players sent home on Wednesday for being late for a 8 a.m. meeting.

Even though Moss was shut down by the Panthers, the Patriots won the game 20-10.
