Trent Edwards will miss the remainder of the season with the Buffalo Bills after suffering a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the New England Patriots.

A source confirmed the injury to ESPN.com’s Tim Graham.

It was a troublesome season for Edwards who was benched in November in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick when Perry Fewell took over as the interim head coach.

He also missed two games this season due to a concussion.

Edwards appeared in eight games for the Bills in 2009, completing 110 of 183 passes which netted him 1,169 yards. He also threw for six touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The team’s third string quarterback Brian Brohm will get the start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday over Fitzpatrick who also suffered an ankle injury against the Patriots according to a report from the Buffalo News.
