The Chicago Bears are came out to make a statement in the first half of Monday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings and lead 16-0 after the first 30 minutes of football.
The cold weather has been wreaking havoc on Brett Favre and the Vikings offense.
Favre had only 36 passing yards in the first half on five of nine passing.
The Vikings backfield was held in check as well with Adrian Peterson limited to 28 yards on nine carries. Chester Taylor didn’t fair any better with five carries for 25 yards.
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who has faced increased criticism as of late, doesn’t seemed fazed by low-20′s temperatures.
He was 12 of 21 passing in the first half for 156 yards and one touchdown.
Matt Forte leads all Chicago rushers with ten carries for 39 yards.
Greg Olsen added three grabs for 47 yards and a touchdown to help the Bears offense through 30 minutes.
If the Bears hang on to win, the Philadelphia Eagles could overtake the Vikings as the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs and get that all important bye in the first round.
